Your relationship with your hairstylist? It’s actually like a real relationship. There’s a buzz of excitement when you first meet them. You try to tell them what your likes are without seeming to demanding or pushy. Then you hold your breath and wait for that magical moment to see if they just kinda “get” who you are.
My first hair makeover with Jing! I wanted a modern, fresh cut that would make me feel more like a sophisticated woman—and he totally delivered. More about my bob cut here.
We have a new hair goal that I’m adjusting to now! I’ve never really had this kind of color before, but it looks kind of fun! I wonder if I’ll be able to stick this out until summer—or if I’ll go back to my favorite messy-sexy lob.
The hair peg: a toned-down version of Khloe’s ’do for summer! My hair won’t look like this yet since it’s too short (so no ombré, just the mixed browns on the upper half), but this is what we’re aiming for…as long as I don’t get tempted to cut it again!
Time to play with color! It was a very complicated highlighting process—a balayage-like application where he placed certain tones on ever other layer. In between, he also did a full color to just make sure my ’do looks fresh.
Now we wait! With the cut, color, and treatment, I spend at least 4 hours at the salon. So I bring my water bottle, snacks, and my gadgets. Say hi to Apple—she took care of me while I was there.
Inspection time! I’m liking the light brown. See how soft the highlights look? You can barely notice it but there’s depth. Jing also added more layers to the ends, so it’ll grow out nicely.
Jing also added blonder colors on just the tips of certain sections. Very subtle, but it kinda pops in photos. This kinda worried me though, because it can look drying if you have coarse hair. Must do more treatments soon!
Time to style! Apple asked me if I wanted my hair straight or curled—and I went for loose waves, of course. She taught me awesome techniques that I’ll share in another post.
Here’s what it looks like from the back! I was iffy before about the lighter highlights, but they sure are looking good now. Really adds movement to your hair.
Once done, Jing comes back for one final check…
And I’m done! I filled in my brows and added a fresh coat of lipstick to complete the whole “makeover.” Always love coming in without fixing myself up, so the “after” shot is more dramatic—and it helps me feel more gorgeous, too!
Thanks for my cut and color, Jing! Can’t wait to see how this will grow out :)
