#FOTD

I’ve been playing around with a cleaner, more minimalist makeup style. I’m thinking it’ll be good for gals who need to look fresh and put-together at the office or just want to look gorgeous for their weekend dates ;)

What do you think? And to think, I'm running on about five hours of sleep here!

What do you think? Full disclosure: I’m running on about five hours of sleep here!

I mixed my favorite Maybelline foundation with the Kate Makeup Lock Primer, P550. It’s great for brightening up tired-looking skin and it gives you a powdery, oil-free finish.

Here's a look at everything I used on my face from Japanese brands Kate, Kanebo, and Lunasol.

Here’s a look at everything I used on my face from Japanese brands Kate and Lunasol. Let’s review them all, shall we?

I think the crucial element to this look would be the Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes Kit, P3,000. It’s a limited edition set that comes with an eyeshadow palette, shiny pencil eyeliner, and peach-toned treatment gloss.

Cute, right? Very subtle, but it does pack some oomph. I blended all the shadows + used the eyeliner here.

I loved the colors and I was really surprised that it translated well on my lids. Browns always surprise me, to be honest. They really help you look more awake and put-together.

Swatched! Y'all know I love sparkles, but on eyeshadows, not so much.

Swatched! You can’t tell so much, but the darker shadow has a lot of little, glittery flecks.

I have to warn you that you will definitely need to use these eyeshadows with a primer to make them last all day. There’s a lot of fallout (especially glitter-wise), but it can be managed if you prep your lids with a good primer and don’t go too crazy when you load your brush.

And this is the set. It's pricey though, but super nice for beige and champagne shades for Pinays.

I think what I should really credit for my fresher than fresh look is the blush. That pop of color on my cheeks was just amazing and it really brightened up my face. The exact shades, swatches, and more budget-friendly eyeshadow palette options from Kate Tokyo after the jump! Continue reading

Remember my US Beauty Haul video?

Well, I finally tried the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipstick in Spiderweb, US$18! As I mentioned in the video, I got it because I wanted to cop Gwen’s signature, vivid red pout.

Yup, that's the color I'm looking for! Her signature red.

Yup, that’s the color I’m looking for! Her signature red!

I didn’t get to see it in person, so I was super hoping that I made the right choice and that it’ll look great on my skintone.

Saw this on Mariel's IG and the shades (listed in the photo's comments) are so pretty! Want, want, want!

I actually posted about lusting for Gwen’s lippie collection here. So I did a lot of IG stalking and debated between getting Spiderweb and 714.

Obviously, you know I went with this choice.

But the real question now is, did it give me the va-va-voom red that I’m looking for? Find out after the jump! Continue reading

I’m In Baguio—And I’m So Glad I Brought These Products!

Hello from the City of Pines!

Finally got to see the BenCab Museum yesterday! I could camp out here for days :)

Finally got to see the BenCab Museum yesterday! I could stay here for days :)

The weather is perfect—cloudy with light drizzles and cool enough to shrug a jacket over your shoulders. It was just the getaway I needed and it gave me a chance to bring a few (okay, a lot) of new products to try!

Working from Hill Station today!

My top 3 picks! And also, working from Hill Station today (had a yummy breakfast here and decided to camp out for a bit).

I’m seriously thinking of staying here for a few weeks. So much fun to write when this is your view (and you have excellent WiFi). But before I start rambling about how much I heart Baguio, let me get back to my Top 3 beauty picks for this trip.  Continue reading

Review: Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm

When I noticed that my undereye area was becoming more dry, I knew I needed to bring out the big guns. The skin around our eyes is the thinnest and most delicate, which is recommend that women invest a little more when it comes to eye creams—it’s really the secret to looking young.

I've been using the Algenist Complete Renewal Balm, $50.

I’ve been using the Algenist Complete Renewal Balm, $65 at Sephora. Locally,it’s available at Rustan’s Department Stores (will update this post with the price once I find it).

What I like about this balm is that it suits all skin types and it targets all my concerns: fine lines and wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness. Most eye creams I encounter only really focus on one concern, so I like that this is a beauty multi-tasker.

Here's what it looks like inside. When you dip into the pot, it feels pretty dense and cushy—not light or watery.

I do wish that this came with a spatula, or better yet, was packaged in a pump to prolong its shelf life and prevent germs from contaminating the pot. I’m also not that big a fan of the scent (sometimes it smells kinda funky or sour after I pat it on and I can’t figure out why TBH). But despite these setbacks, I still use it! Why? Because it works!

Review: Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation & Concealer

I was thrilled when Urban Decay emailed me and said that they wanted to send me a few items for review. I thought I was dreaming! Urban Decay?? It’s like one of the coolest makeup brands out there and I’m on their beauty radar! Yay!

Getting a kit from a US brand was so different. Locally, they usually send a printed write-up about the product and brand (with a CD or USB filled with photos). UD sent a short note and a little info card that mentioned all the highlights about the Naked Skin line. It was short and sweet and straight to the point—I likey!

Wearable contour? That sounds like a good challenge!

Wearable contour? That sounds like a good challenge!

If you watch my YouTube videos, you know that contouring isn’t part of my makeup routine. But wearable contour? I can get on board with that. I was beginning to notice that my face was looking a tad long and flat lately in photos, so maybe adding more natural shadows might help (more about that on my YouTube channel soon!).

For now, let’s do a thorough review of these makeup goodies!

Let's start with the foundation! Isn't the rose gold box and sleek packaging pretty?

Let’s start with the foundation! Isn’t the rose gold box and sleek packaging pretty? I can’t get myself to throw them out just yet!

Okay so here’s the scoop on the foundation: It’s gives you major coverage without feeling heavy, there’s also a blurring effect that’s supposed to happen, and it has light-reflecting spheres (and peptides!) to help lessen the appearance of fine lines. Sounds good so far, right?

More swatches, my take on the “wearable contour” technique, and see what the foundation looks like on me after the jump! Continue reading
