First Look: Etude House Berry Delicious Collection

I had a little K-beauty fun last week!

I love Korean beauty brands and fell in love with the country when I visited a few years ago (read about my trip here). That’s why I’m always excited to check out all the new stuff they launch. Here’s what caught my eye from this collection:

The Etude House Berry Delicious Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara, P728.

I am always on the prowl for mascaras that can hold a curl. This one looked extremely promising because it has 24-hour curl technology for drooping lashes (with zero smudging!) and a very interesting brush.

The rounded bristles (left side) help curl your lashes and the comb-like side is for lifting and separating.

Use the rounded bristles first to help curl your lashes and the comb-like side (on the right) is for lifting and separating. You’ll have to rotate the wand with care to make sure you’re using the correct side.

The mascara formula is wet and gel-like, so be patient when layering on coats to avoid getting tiny blobs on your upper and lower lids. As for holding a curl? I have no doubt that it will be able to do so—but only if you curl your lashes well. Otherwise, you will just end up with extra long, volumized fringe.

What impressed me the most is that it DID NOT SMUDGE in the hot, Manila weather (it even survived a major cry-fest after I watched an emo movie, haha). The only downside? I do find it a bit pricey for mascara, but if getting smudgies is a makeup peeve of yours, then investing in this will be worth it. Just make sure you have a fantastic oil-based makeup remover because the long-lasting formula is tough to remove.

I had my reservations about the grainy sparkles and the colors in this palette. But to my surprise, the fresh shades turned out pretty wearable and flattering for summer. I’d recommend this more for gals with pinkish or neutral undertones, but surprisingly, it looked pretty good on my skintone also.

I was also surprised by how pigmented the shades were. Nice, right?

I was also surprised by how pigmented the shades were (I just swiped each color on on twice). Nice, right?

I do recommend that you use this with a primer to ensure that it lasts longer. I like the mix of colors, since you have a few mattes for contouring and enough sparkly shades to play around with to cop the Korean shimmer on your lids. The winning color combo I like: Sugary Butter as a wash over my lids, Dip! Dip! on the lower half for drama, and Berry Milk Chocolate on my crease.

What do you think of my Berry Delicious K-Beauty picks? Yay or nay? ♥
