Limited edition and holiday collections are always exciting, but I have to say, this one really takes the cake!
It’s the NARS X Steven Klein collection! It’ll be available at Rustan’s this November.
I kinda felt like doofus because I didn’t really know who Steven Klein was. During the intimate event, I learned that he’s one of the most challenging and provocative artists in photography and film. He’s a staple in top magazines like Vogue and is behind many controversial shoots—like that 2005 Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie spread where they acted like a married couple.
The work of Steven Klein is grounded in reality, but he always adds a elements of allure and dark glamour.
For this collection, François Nars and Steven Klein sifted through thousands of images. Their goal? To choose captivating visuals that depict Steven’s body of work over the past 20 years and the overall spirit of their beauty collaboration. Take a look:
NARS X Steven Klein A Woman’s Face Nude Lip Set, P2,250. It comes with a creamy lip liner, cult-classic lipstick, and a coveted matte lip pencil for sexy, naturally-fleshy lips.
The NARS X Steven Klein Magnificent Obsession Red Lip Set, P2,250. This is an unpublished image that was shot for Vogue in 2014 for an anti-aging story.
NARS X Steven Klein Dead of Summer Dual Intensity Eyeshadow, P2,250. You can apply these shimmery shades wet or dry!
All the makeup comes in pretty boxes that you can collect. This one’s my favorite, and I think, the one where you’ll really get your money’s worth.
NARS X Steven Klein Despair Cheek Palette, P3,250. A perfect mix of pinks and blushing bares. That mini Kabuki Ita brush is TDF, too!
I thought it’d be more pigmented, but then again, this is probably better to avoid OD-ing on blush!
Here’s a look at the cover. It was shot for Vogue Italia in March 2004. The makeup artist, Kabuki, specializes in creating elaborate prosthetic makeup.
If you’re not into palettes and would rather buy a piece from the color collection, here’s what you can check out:
NARS Single Eyeshadow, P1,350 each. The pearly shades on my hand from top to bottom: Mortal, Never Too Late, and Stud.
Love this! The NARS Limited Edition Killer Shine Lipstick in No Shame, P1,450. Depending on the number of layers you swipe on, you get different intensities of the red-plum shade.
They also have glosses and nail polishes. So much new makeup to play around with, so don’t forget to hit the counters in November!
I tried the nail polish in the photo above (the shade: Hard To Get). It’s metallic and has a bronzed, gunmetal finish, so it’s not my usual shade. But it’s nice to play around with for the F/W season.
What do you think? I got my mani from I Do Nails and added a little bling to make it look edgier (will post more about it later this week!).
So my sparkly loves, do you like the NARS x Steven Klein collection? I really want the blush palette and the red-plum lipstick! ♥
