My skin’s been a bit lackluster lately—probably due to all the sugary snacks I’ve been munching on and lack of sleep. But I discovered an awesome beauty hack to fix that problem!

Can you tell I'm running on four hours of sleep?

Can you tell I’m running on four hours of sleep?

I was surprised that so many people said I looked fresh the day I took the photo (if they only knew—hehe!). But the kind compliments confirmed that my foundation trick worked, so natch, I had to share the makeup hack with you guys!

I mixed equal parts of foundation + a luminizing moisturizer!

I mixed equal parts of foundation + a luminizing moisturizer! This beauty move only takes two seconds, so it’s easy to do.

Think about it: If your skin is already dry and dull, slapping foundation over it would make just it look cakey or heavy. Meanwhile, if you just prep with a primer, then you get long-lasting coverage without the lit-from-within glow. When you add a few drops of BRIGHTENING moisturizer to your favorite liquid foundation, the light-reflecting particles help you score luminous skin. It also thins out your foundation a bit, so you get natural-looking coverage (this is better if you look tired).

I used a budget-friendly base from Maybelline and it’s becoming a fast favorite (I also used it in my date makeup tutorial). As for the Nars Luminous Moisture Cream, it was actually my first time to use it. It did great (I got the glow without the shine since it has light-reflecting complex technology) and my skin got better and better as the day went on. Loved that it’s made specifically for dry skin and it doesn’t contain parabens, fragrances, and alcohol. Will definitely be using this more, because I think I think it helped calm down my breakouts, too!!

  • Good question! I usually give them away to family and friends. Or I just throw them away if it’s unhygienic to share. I’ll keep your suggestion in mind to give some away to my readers!

My skin is oily-combo, so I think the Dream Satin should be okay—especially if you also set it with powder.

    • Thanks for the reply, Ms. Nicole. How about your thoughts on the L’oreal true match foundation? I saw that they’re having a sale and the true match is now priced to Php 450! Hahaha. Now, I’m torn between Maybelline and L’oreal.

      • Oh! I tried that foundation a long time ago na, but it didn’t really become a favorite. I am super happy with the Maybelline one. The brand goes on sale often naman—wait nlang and make abang!

        • Okay po. Will take your advice. Good thing I didn’t gave in kanina. I was already holding that L’oreal foundie, then I swatched it. Then I saw na medyo may shimmer siya. Like some glittery particles. Then I thought, oily na ko tapos may glitters pa yung base ko, parang di po bagay. Pero the coverage naman po mukhang okay. :) Anyway, the Maybelline one I think is priced Php499, so konti lang difference. :)
