Oh boy! Summer is in full swing, guys. Can you believe that the temperature was 93ºF today and might even reach 97ºF on Sunday? #melting
I’ve been using these for about two weeks now, and so far, I’ve been happy with the results. If you’re looking for beauty ideas and insights on how you can beat the heat this summer, keep reading! I’ll tell you how the products above (from Jane Iredale, NARS, Happy Skin, Elizabeth Arden, Shu Uemura, and ArtDeco) are helping me beat the heat.
The Jane Iredale BeautyPrep Facial Cleanser is basically micellar cleansing water, but you use it before you put on your makeup. Instead of using a primer to make your powders and foundation last longer, you use this! I like it because it saves you from adding another layer of cream on your face and it kinda works like a toner, too. As for extending the life of your makeup and making it go on smoother? I’d say it works! But is it a necessary step for me? Not so much, because my makeup doesn’t really slide off anyway.
As for the Jane Iredale PurePressed Blush in Mystique, I really like using it now that I’m a little more tan. It’s a deep, rosy brown, so it brings out my color even more and gives me a fresh (not ruddy) glow. I don’t like using bronzers solo, so this is a nice way to get a deeper-looking flush that still has a hint of color without having to use pink. And because it’s a powder, the formula helps absorb any excess grease also.
My friends who have problematic skin rave about this product, so I thought I’d give it a try. As you know, I’m wary of BB creams (read why here) so I really proceeded with caution here. Fortunately, the salicylic acid-spiked formula didn’t make me breakout and I did like the powdery finish it left on my skin. You can use your fingers to apply it, but because this base doesn’t contain silicone, I prefer using a foundation brush (like Shu Uemura’s Natural #18 Brush in the photo above) to help buff it into my skin more evenly. Full disclosure: Since my skin isn’t acne prone anymore, I spread the beauty love and gave it to a friend who needed it more.
This little baby is the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Kari. You can read more about it and the NARS spring 2016 collection here. I love the creamy texture and the fact that I can use it without a brush. I just dip my clean fingers in the pot and swipe it over the lower half of my lids to add depth. You can also use it with a wet brush to build intensity and make it last all day!
I outline and fill my pout with the ArtDeco Soft Lip Liner 81. It’s waterproof and gives my lips a natural, pinkish tone (think: MLBB vibe). But because it does finish matte and flat, I add a hint of dimension and a lot of shine with the Elizabeth Arden Lip Gloss in Sunset. It kinda smells coconut-y, so it’s absolutely delicious for summer!
