Watch Out For Illustrated Beauty Graphics From B&S

Sometimes, you need cool illustrations to guide you through complicated makeup steps. During a workshop with Life After Breakfast’s Alessandra Lanot, I asked her if she could help me find an artist who could bring my beauty how-tos to life. After going through a few of her recos (thanks, Alessa!), the cosmetic stars aligned and I was lucky enough to get the very talented Chris Clemente to collaborate with me for Beauty & Sparkle. Talk about a small world—we were even in the same Pattern Making Class that Alessandra was teaching! Awesome-sauce! Ooh, and check out the cool patterns some of my classmates made below:

If you have time, please drop by Chris’ site here and Alessa’s site here. Chris makes hand-painted posters, which I think are perfect for adding some pizzazz to stylized events or weddings. Personally, I want to have some done for my room, so I can decorate it with inspirational (and silly) quotes. As for Alessa, she conducts workshops that just inspire creativity like Watercolor Crafternoons and Rubberstamping Classes. Visit their websites to find out more about these fabulous, creative people!

Are you excited to see the beauty graphics? Send me your beauty how-to requests here, so I can write a step-by-step illustration that’s inspired by you! And here’s my *secret* tip: Subscribe to Beauty & Sparkle’s E-Weekly (link is on the sidebar). Aside from updates + more beauty tips, you’ll get a surprise gift (it’s a how-to illustration!) sent straight to your inbox! ♥

Beauty Snap: Dry Your Mani With An Ice Bath

Ice, ice baby—it's your secret weapon for a quick dry.

Ice, ice baby—it’s your secret weapon for a quick dry.

Here’s a nifty trick I discovered to help your polish dry in under three minutes:

You’ll Need: Ice, a small bowl, and water

The Technique: Post-polish, fill a bowl with water and ice. Once cold, dunk your wet nails for at least two minutes. The temperature can get a bit uncomfortable, so lift your fingers every 10 to 20 seconds if you can’t stand it.

The Logic: Because nail lacquers harden when exposed to cold temps, this technique will set your mani all the way down to its base coat.

Extra Nail Tip: When I’m at a nail salon and need to leave ASAP, I just ask the technician to fill a soaking bowl with ice cold water from their dispenser. Did this thrice already and it worked every time! Watch the faces of the technicians who aren’t familiar with this nail trick—they’ll go from doubtful to amazed to impressed. So funny! ♥
