Review: Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm

When I noticed that my undereye area was becoming more dry, I knew I needed to bring out the big guns. The skin around our eyes is the thinnest and most delicate, which is recommend that women invest a little more when it comes to eye creams—it’s really the secret to looking young.

I've been using the Algenist Complete Renewal Balm, $50.

I’ve been using the Algenist Complete Renewal Balm, $65 at Sephora. Locally,it’s available at Rustan’s Department Stores (will update this post with the price once I find it).

What I like about this balm is that it suits all skin types and it targets all my concerns: fine lines and wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness. Most eye creams I encounter only really focus on one concern, so I like that this is a beauty multi-tasker.

Here's what it looks like inside. When you dip into the pot, it feels pretty dense and cushy—not light or watery.

I do wish that this came with a spatula, or better yet, was packaged in a pump to prolong its shelf life and prevent germs from contaminating the pot. I’m also not that big a fan of the scent (sometimes it smells kinda funky or sour after I pat it on and I can’t figure out why TBH). But despite these setbacks, I still use it! Why? Because it works!

Don’t Go To Bed Without Doing This!

No matter how tired I am, there are two things I do before bed: cleanse my face and put on my eye cream. I was in love with the Elizabeth Arden Prevage Eye Serum for years, but now, I have a new favorite.

It's the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum. It's earned a prime spot on my dresser, so I never forget to pat it on.

Compared to the expensive eye creams in the market, this one is pretty affordable at $65. The great thing about it is that it delivers, too. I won’t think twice about buying this again when I run out. After using it before bed for about three weeks, I noticed that the lines around my peepers weren’t as deep in photos. It’s light, intensely hydrating, and is easily absorbed by my skin. It doesn’t do much for dark circles, but it does help (slightly) with puffiness. If crow’s feet is your main issue, then be diligent, sleep earlier, and use this. You won’t be disappointed! Do you use eye cream once or twice a day? The Estée website says you can use this in the a.m. also, so I’m wondering if I should! ♥ Beauty Directory Estée Lauder Available at Rustan’s Department Stores. Tried & Tested: Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion

I got a surprise from Rustan’s!

Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion, P3,550.

What It Does: It’s an anti-aging treatment that you use with before your moisturizer. It’s clinically proven to reduce lines and wrinkles, plumps up dehydrated skin, and it’s fast acting for those who want to see results ASAP (it claims to reduce lines in just two hours).

The Key Ingredients: Collagen Support Complex helps the skin absorb and retain water while supporting natural collagen and elastin in your skin, Winged Kelp aims to boost hydration and suppleness, and Cellular Hydrolock to naturally increase cellular water level and relieve dry, irritated skin

Take a look at this image from Murad. It also claims to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in just two hours. I want to time it next time and excited to try it on my undereye area.

5 Sneaky Ways You’re Making Yourself Age Faster

Why kudos on using that reusable cup. The straw? Not so much.

Why kudos on using that reusable tumbler. The straw? Not so much.

Some of your daily habits can actually speed up the aging process—and you might not even know it! Here’s a quick rundown to help you catch these sneaky, wrinkle-causing culprits.

Culprit #1: The Way You Wash Your Face
The Reason: The constant tugging and pulling of the gentle skin around your face can cause sagging.
The Fix: You know those silly facial wash commercials where you see girls carefully lathering up and rinsing off their faces with a smile? Ya, do that. And please pat (don’t rub!) your face dry while you’re at it.

Culprit #2: Sipping On A Straw
The Reason: Repetitive puckering motions can cause the tiny creases around your mouth to deepen in the long run.
The Fix: Simple—just drink directly from the glass or bottle as much as you can.

Can you guess what the other three culprits are? Instagramming is one of them! Continue reading
