Review: Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm

When I noticed that my undereye area was becoming more dry, I knew I needed to bring out the big guns. The skin around our eyes is the thinnest and most delicate, which is recommend that women invest a little more when it comes to eye creams—it’s really the secret to looking young.

I've been using the Algenist Complete Renewal Balm, $50.

I’ve been using the Algenist Complete Renewal Balm, $65 at Sephora. Locally,it’s available at Rustan’s Department Stores (will update this post with the price once I find it).

What I like about this balm is that it suits all skin types and it targets all my concerns: fine lines and wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness. Most eye creams I encounter only really focus on one concern, so I like that this is a beauty multi-tasker.

Here's what it looks like inside. When you dip into the pot, it feels pretty dense and cushy—not light or watery.

I do wish that this came with a spatula, or better yet, was packaged in a pump to prolong its shelf life and prevent germs from contaminating the pot. I’m also not that big a fan of the scent (sometimes it smells kinda funky or sour after I pat it on and I can’t figure out why TBH). But despite these setbacks, I still use it! Why? Because it works!

Review: Laneige Time Freeze Eye Serum

During the last quarter of 2015, I had a lot of trouble sleeping. I was going to bed at like 2 a.m. and waking up at 8 a.m. Needless to say, it was horrible and my undereye area was definitely suffering.

And this was my savior!! The Laneige Time Freeze Eye Serum, P2,500.

And this was my savior!! The Laneige Time Freeze Eye Serum, P2,500.

Prior to using this, I was loyal to these two eye creams (see them here and here). Unfortunately, I noticed that the Estée Lauder one I was using had reached its peak and that it wasn’t doing anything for my skin anymore. So I made the switch!

If you want to reduce the sunken-eye look and lighten your dark circles, keep reading! I’ll talk more about the results I got after the jump! Continue reading

How Do You Hide Dark Circles?

Genetics. Late nights. Allergies. Rubbing. There are so many possible causes for the dark circles in your undereye area.

And according to Refinery 29, this buzz-worthy product may be just what you need to hide them. Click here to read the article.

I got really excited about this product, until I saw that an “orangey-red lipstick” can give you similar results. It seemed the color was a bit too much (especially when I saw the video in the article), so I realized that this game-changer may not be as exciting as I thought. Sigh, oh well.

It's the Shiseido Sheer Eye Zone Corrector! I actually wrote about this recently—you can check it out here.

When it comes to camouflaging my dark circles, I always use the Shiseido Sheer Eye Zone Corrector (read all about it here and here).

It’s an orangey-peach tone and that always works better on my skintone. But hey—don’t just take my word for it. Check out what makeup artist, Archie Tolentino, commented on my Facebook wall shortly after I shared the story.

My dark circles are caused by late nights, so as long as I get enough sleep, they (thankfully) go away on their own. But if you’re working nights or are just more prone to getting shadows under your eyes, do try color correcting with a peachy-orangey concealer first. It’ll make camouflaging your dark circles a lot more easier and it’ll get rid of that grayish-white cast, too!

What do you do to hide your dark circles? Do you color correct, conceal, or just leave ’em alone? Leave me a comment and let me know! ♥
