After reviewing several colors from the Kylie Lip Kit line (read it here), I knew I had to get my very own tube from Ms. Jenner. After all, it’s the hottest beauty buy all over the world now!
It’s here! I ordered mine from @duckfaceph on Instagram.
She came highly recommended by fellow lipstick addict and Cosmo.ph’s resident beauty girl, Retty. I usually prefer to buy from the source, but given the frenzy, I decided to just order from a local reseller.
The infamous box with her trademark lip drips. I was so excited to see what’s inside!
The box flips open at the top and her official website is stamped on the flap.
And voilà! A postcard from King Kylie with a note on the back that says…
Love it! And I loved getting a peek at her handwriting, too.
So now that I’ve literally shown you my unboxing, can you guess what I ordered? There’s a clue in the previous sentence I just typed! Hehe! And there was something pretty controversial about its packaging, too. Find out what it is (and see if I got a bum order) after the jump! Continue reading →
I like matching my outfits to my makeup—not the other way around! I’m not really a fashion girl, so this helps me get a little more excited about picking out what clothes to wear.
It’s errand day, so I just wanted something casual with fun pops of color. As for my glasses? I don’t really need ’em—they’re just for my “feeling hipster” days. Hehe!
I had fun playing around with the Make Up For Ever (MUFE) Artist Plexi-Gloss today. What I liked about the samples that were sent my way is that I had one with a pearl finish (the light beige shade) and one without (the orange shade). But what I really loved was the wand!
The MUFE Artist Plexi-Gloss has a split-tip applicator, so you get the perfect amount of gloss with each swipe.
Compared to the usual doe-foot wand, I found this had a lot more grip in the sponge. It was flexible, so it was able to hug my lips as I swept it over each curve. I liked that I got more precision and that I didn’t waste a lot of product or have to blot any excess gloss off. If you have thicker lips like mine, you may need to dip the wand into the tube twice to pickup more gloss—once for your upper lip and once again for your lower lip—for full coverage. If you’re just using it to highlight the center of your pout, then there’s no need to double dip.
Take a closer look at the colors and find out if I think it’s worth your moolah after the jump! Continue reading →
ED’S NOTE: I have a special treat for you today! Seasoned beauty editor and editor-in-chief of Calyxta.com, Erica Paredes, dishes about FIVE of her favorite lipstick shades. They’re brands that I haven’t tried before and are now available in our market, so it’ll be interesting to see what her take is—especially since her beauty personality is so different from mine! Enjoy! —N.
Working in the industry as a beauty editor and writer for over a decade, I’ve had many “favorite” beauty products come and go in my life. My go-to lip hue is always a nude with touches of pink, and I always stayed away from reds simply because I didn’t think the color suited me.
Can you see me? Shooting a few layouts here for Calyxta.com. Aside from being EIC, I also work as the brand’s marketing and sales director.
Because of my job, I have the opportunity to try a lot of the products that we sell on the site. And lo and behold, out of the five lipsticks I consider my current must-haves, three of them are different shades of red! But let’s start with the more predictable shades that I love.
The first lipstick is from a brand called Lime Crime and it’s a pinkish-nude matte called Babette (P995). I mix it with a pink lipliner with a touch of brown and it’s a fresh-looking color for everyday use. I like that it’s sexy without going overboard.
If I want a bit more oomph, I go for Medusa’s Make-Up’s Lolita (P595). This glossy, berry red doesn’t look too dark for daytime and can take you straight to post-work cocktails. It’s a good “starter” red for those who aren’t used to drawing focus to their lips. It’s vegan, too!

Because I’m a lipstick girl at heart, I’m adding a new section to my blog called Get Lippie Tuesday! This way, I can tell you which lipstick shade I’m currently going gaga over.
My lippie gear! When I have time, I use all of these to perfect my pout.
The basics: 1. Lip balm. I’m using the VMV Armada Moisturizing Lip Balm, P770, to moisturize my kisser. I just like the protective barrier it provides between my skin and the actual lipstick. 2. A spatula. Got this at Landmark. I’m a germ-phobe and don’t like applying my lipstick directly onto my lips if I can help it. 3. A lip brush. Love this retractable lip brush from Real Techniques (P440). After scraping off some product with a spatula, I use this to apply the lipstick for more precision. 4. The lipstick. This week, I’m using the Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick in POW3. It’s P399.
Umm…somebody doesn’t know how to take photos! Haha, everything’s in focus except my lips! I’m liking my hair color though ;)
Okay…focus! Here’s my pick for Get Lippie Tuesday! What do you think?
It’s a vivid, bright pink which I l-o-v-e! You can never go wrong with this color…or Maybelline lipsticks, in my opinion. They’re budget-friendly, non-drying, and pack a good pigment punch.
Are you looking forward to next week’s Get Lippie Tuesday? Do you want to see nude, bright, or darker shades? Let me know! ♥
