2. Acca Kappa
Why You’ll Like It: The brand is understated, classy, and there’s just an elegance about the craftsmanship of their products. They’ve got stores in Rustan’s and BGC Central, too.

And it's partly because of the new hair tools I'm using: a boar bristle brush from Keratin Complex, my Rowenta 2-in-1 Ceramic Ionic Curling Iron, and a paddle brush from Acca Kappa.

My favorite wooden paddle brush! Click here to read more about my hairstyling secrets.

What To Check Out: Their brushes are fantastic and you’ll feel like a queen whenever you run it through your hair. But my favorite will always be the Muschio Blanco line—I always get compliments whenever I wear this scent!

I'm seriously thinking of getting this for myself, guys. I want the soap and the solid perfume!

3. Burt’s Bees

What To Check Out: They have lots of affordable holiday kits, but if you’re only shopping for one thing, make sure it’s a lip product. Considering that women reportedly eat about 7 pounds of lipstick in a lifetime, you’ll be glad that you’re ingesting something that’s practically chemical-free.

Fab stocking stuffers for your Kris Kringle baby. The individual lip balms in holiday packaging are only P225 each.

Why You’ll Like It: The reflective crystals and plush interiors in this beauty sanctuary can really help erase all the stress that accumulated throughout 2015. It’s also one of the most trusted derma clinics in town because of their constant innovations in the skin and cosmetic surgery arena.

Review: K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner in Brown Black

I gave a few products a challenging test-run over my weekend trip to Davao.

Say hi to the silly tourist with the crazy hat! Haha! I tried the K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner in Black Brown, P795.

First up: the K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner in Brown Black, P795. P.S. Say hi to the silly tourist with the crazy hat! Haha!

I walked all over the city to visit museums, parks, and the famous Aldevinco Shopping Center (I got my fan hat there). It was crazy hot and I felt like I was melting! By the time I got back to the hotel hours later, I was impressed that the K-Palette liner didn’t smudge at all. I didn’t see any ugly smears around my lids or lower lashline, but I did have to retouch the line because it cracked and faded in some spots.

Compared to regular liquid liners, I think pen-types are the easiest to use.

Here’s a look at the pen liner. It’s very easy to use, and in case it takes you a while to draw a cat eye, you can hold it upside-down without it drying up.

It actually took me a while to review this, because I thought that using a brown-black liner wouldn’t be a big deal. I’ve always used black liner and loved the intensity it gave my tiny eyes (brown doesn’t cut it for me—it just washes out). I gotta say though, I’ve been reaching for this shade more and more these days—especially since I can remove it easily with just soap and water! Hurray for lazy girl beauty ;)

Let’s compare the different liquid liner shades, so you can see why I’m digging this after the jump! Continue reading

How To Fix An Eyeliner Mishap

Oopsie!! Makeup mishap alert!

This is what happens when you do your makeup while you're still sleepy. Hehe!

This is what happens when you do your makeup while you’re still sleepy. Hehe, it was one of those mornings.

The beauty backstory: I got lazy to finish my brows, so I decided to work on my eyeliner first. After doing one eye, I think I fell asleep for a millisecond—then bam! Haha, I had to blink all that liquid liner goop out of my eye! I don’t even know why it was at the bottom when I was lining my upper lashline.

The good news is, there’s no need to panic when this happens to you! All you need is an upgraded version of this handy bathroom staple to clean this mess up. And it’s only P50 for 100 pieces, too! Click to find out what it is! Continue reading

Celeb Makeup Looks At The Met Gala 2015

When I was still a newbie editor during my magazine days, I remember when the fashion girls would get all worked up about who wore what at the Met Gala. I really never understood it back then, but now, I can say that I appreciate the unique looks and themes that challenge celebs (and probably their stylists!) every year.

Just look at this gown! Rihanna really knows how to push fashion boundaries. Not my fave look, but there's no denying it's magnificent.

Just look at this gown! Rihanna really knows how to turn heads. Not a look I would go for, but there’s no denying that they’ll be talking about this for years.

This year’s theme was China: Through The Looking Glass. I was lucky enough to get an inside scoop on the makeup looks that the NARS team put together for a few high-profile celebs. Let’s take a look, shall we?

1. Reese Witherspoon

It's America's sweetheart!

America’s sweetheart goes for a more conservative look for the Met Ball. P.S. Can you believe Legally Blonde was released 14 years ago?

What I like about Reese’s makeup look here is how the little cat eye wing seems to be extending from her lower lashline. Such a nice detail and it flatters and elongates her eye shape really well. Celebrity makeup artist Molly Stern shared that she wanted the Academy Award-winning actress to have a super clean, bright complexion with bold features, so she also intensified the brows with shadowed liner.

Here are the key NARS products they used to create the look: All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, Fervor Dual-Intensity Blush, and Anita Audacious Lipstick.

2. Fei Fei Sun

Model Fei Fei Sun look quit regal with her makeup look. Loved the earrings, too!

It’s another take on the cat eye, but this one is loaded with lots of drama! “The eyeliner really had to be created for Fei Fei’s face, it was quite thick to enhance her eyes,” explains celebrity makeup artist Maki Ryoke. I have tiny eyes also, so this happens to me when I try to go for a winged look (monolid problems, hehe). If only I could wear my liner like this on a normal day!
