Happy Skin finally has its very own boutiques in Glorietta 3 and it’s just so pretty!
Sigh. I kinda wish this was the entrance to my boudoir.
It’s got lots of spots that are perfect for selfies—that’s a must when you’re trying on new makeup!
So basically, you won’t really want to leave until you’ve taken IG-worthy photos and played around with all their products. Hehe!
My favorite little nook is the corner on the far left (where the mirror is). It’s like a little bar where you can sit down and get a “Lips-spection.”
Look for this clipboard! You can take a fun quiz and discover the best lippie for you—fun!
While at the store, I also got to take a look at their 2015 holiday collection. Happy Skin always has fab sets packaged beautifully, so I was excited to see what they’d come up with this year.
Ugh, cutesy book sets with makeup inside! How can you resist this??
This set comes with two lippies from the Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Power Pout Moisturizing Lip Lacquer line. You guys have to see the colors—they’re actually better on your lips than in the tube! Check them out and see what it looks like on me after the jump! Continue reading →
I had so much fun flying to Davao for the opening of Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis. Check out my little travel diary to see what went down (and do a little celeb spotting!).
4 a.m. I am packed and ready to go! I was just hitching a ride with my brother-in-law, since he was going to Hong Kong. It’s APEC week here in Manila, so air travel (and traffic!) is crazy.
My flight was to Davao was at 6:40 a.m., and even though I was en route to the airport pretty early, I almost didn’t make my flight because of the traffic!
9 a.m. After landing in Davao, we were whisked away to Seda Hotel. It’s right in front of Abreeza Mall (that’s where Jing’s new salon is), so that was convenient. It was my first time to stay at the hotel (I stayed at Marco Polo last time), so I wanted to explore a little.
The pretty pool! I wish I brought my bikini, but there was no time to swim anyway.
9:30 a.m. After looking around, my next stop was the breakfast buffet! I was so happy I had 30 minutes left to eat. I was so hungry on the plane!
I always need to have an omelette (or two!) at the breakfast buffet. It’s my little tradition—hehe!
10:30 a.m. When I realized I was the only one left at the buffet, I decided to head up to my room for a quick nap. Based on our itinerary, I had about an hour to rest before meeting Jing for lunch.
So I just chilled out in the room for a bit. I wanted to take more photos, but I plopped down and zonked out. Hotel sheets and pillows are the best!
11:30 a.m. I woke up because someone called me and realized that I had to get ready for lunch already. The day was going by so fast! So I freshened up my makeup, changed my top, and got ready for more…food! Haha!
At FCF Davao for lunch with the Jing Monis and his brand ambassadors! That’s Paul Jake Castillo, Kaye Abad, Fifth Solomon, Mich Sancianco of Mega magazine, Jing, Phoemela Baranda, and the rest of Jing’s team.
12:30 p.m. The food at FCF (it stands for Filipino Comfort Food) was delish—traditional Pinoy cuisine! And OMG, Jing was spoiling us like crazy at this point. Seriously, he was the sweetest host and really made everyone feel so welcome.
More deets about my trip and take an exclusive peek at the Hair Philosophie salon after the jump! P.S. Cute pics of Daniel Matsunaga included! Continue reading →
Okay, the blog is officially branching out! As you all know, I started a section called Sparkle Bites where I plan on featuring more lifestyle, travel, fashion, and food finds. I think it’s fun to talk about other things every now and then, right?
It’s for Heatwave! This is what I saw when I entered. For a beauty girl, it was intimidating. Hehe!
Thank my lucky stars that my first event was for shoes, so it was fun to check out the new styles. The last time I did any major shoe shopping was years ago (yes, really), so I desperately needed to hunt for new heels.
Choices, choices! During the launch, we got to pick any pair we wanted. I had no idea what to get.
I bumped into one of my Titas (Aunts) at the event and she immediately shrieked, “The heels are so comfortable! I’ve been wearing them all day!” That piqued my curiosity, but really, it was hard to believe. Heels + comfort are two words that are rarely paired.
But you know what? I think my Tita was right! They’re comfy—and the designs are sexy!
LOL, but my Tita was right. They are super comfy, but you really have to try the heels on to believe it. But trust me—when you slip the heels on, your feet will know the difference. They just fit better and feel softer around the skin. Like a nice shoe hug.
Took a snap of me and Erin of Candy. We couldn’t decide which pair to get!
I really liked the blue because it was different and I wanted a nice pop of color for my outfits. But the leopard—it seemed like a daring and fun pick, too. Erin was trying to convince me to go for the leopard, and since she’s a fashion editor, she was really making sense. She even Googled outfit pegs just to prove her point!
As much as I wanted the leopard, I was kinda iffy about whether I could pull them off. They just seemed so “roar” to me. You know what I mean? It might be kinda…tacky. I wore ballet flats that were leopard before and loved them, but I wasn’t too sure if I could pull this print off anymore—especially in heels.
Guys. I got both of them! Haha, I didn’t realize that there was a dangerous side to attending fashion events—I’ll end up spending!
Curious to see which pair I got? I think you know what I’m leaning towards, but keep reading—you’re in for a surprise! The big reveal (and a few #OOTDs) after the jump! Continue reading →
Okay, fragrance addicts! You’ll be happy to know that Jo Malone London is coming to Manila in October 2015. They’re opening in Greenbelt 5 and I can’t wait to see what the boutique will look like.
Got a sneak peek at the fragrances and learned a few tricks about scent layering.
What makes Jo Malone unique is that you can layer their fragrances to create your own signature scent. Their reco: up to three colognes max. You also have to mist the scents all over your body, not your pulse points, to allow the different notes to waft around you.
The scents I played around with: Nectarine Blossom & Honey, Lime Basil & Mandarin, English Pear & Freesia, Peony & Blush Suede.
Everything smells amazing in the bottle, but you really have to try it on your skin before you buy. Fragrances react differently to your body chemistry, so what smells good on a friend may not smell as good on you.
That’s why we took advantage of the fragrance bar at the event! Frances of Topaz Mommy and Angela of Lush Angel, and I kept misting scents on like crazy.
When experimenting with Jo Malone colognes, you have to think of yourself as a “fragrance stylist.” They have over 20+ colognes in their collection (click here to see them all), so you can get creative with the combos you layer on. You can even collect the different scents, so you have a fragrance wardrobe to choose from. Clickity-click for more scoops about the event and to learn more about how Jo Malone scented Kate Moss’ wedding (yes, wedding!). Continue reading →
