When you see makeup or skincare products that aren’t available locally, what do you do? Do you purchase from resellers, order online and risk having them shipped, or ask someone who’s traveling to oh-so-kindly buy it for you? Me? I prefer to do the latter. Watch and see what I shopped for!
If you guys see anything you like or want me to review any of these goodies on the blog, leave me a comment! And don’t forget to subscribe (www.bit.ly/SparkleSubscribe) to send me some love!
Did you see me panic at the 1:13 mark when I thought they sent me the wrong product? LOL! ♥
Saw this on Mariel’s IG and the shades (listed in the photo’s comments) are so pretty! Want, want, want!
I’ve always admired Gwen Stefani’s lipstick and makeup style. She’s super cool, fun, and I do enjoy watching her on The Voice—especially now that her romance is heating up with Blake Shelton. Disclaimer: I love Hollywood gossip!
So many colors to choose from! If only I could see them in person!
Can you sense my frustration? LOL! At first, I was torn between getting the red or fuchsia shade. Then, I realized that I need a good red. And that I want a Gwen Stefani kinda red, so…
Maybe this one? The shade is 714 (probably named after the area code in Gwen’s hometown).
I wish I could see them in person and give each shade a good swatch, then I’d know which one I want based on what it looks like on my skintone. I read a few reviews and some said that Spiderweb was more Gwen’s signature red. I’m so confused, so until I figure it out, I’ll just keep watching her latest video and drooling over the lippie shade she’s rocking.
Which shade do you think I should get? Leave a comment and help me figure out which one is closest to Gwen Stefani’s signature red pout! ♥
It’s been such a crazy week! I tried writing this while I was at an event (see it on my IG and Snapchat via @beautyandsparkl), but the Internet was too slow to upload anything. So sorry for the delay, guys! Without further ado, here is today’s get lippie pick:
A vintage red! It’s the exact shade (yes, exact!) that screen legend and Marilyn Monroe used to wear. So sexy!
I got this as a sample from Calyxta a loooong time ago. I didn’t want to use it yet, because the vintage packaging is so special. I just wanted to keep it in my collection and look at it and be happy I had it. I only got the urge to use it today, because I wanted to feel a little more za-za-zing.
Bésame Lipstick in Red Hot Red. It’s actually on sale at Calyxta.com, so click here to check it out!
It actually comes in a red velvet pouch and the gold-plated tubes were inspired by old school designs. What I noticed the most is that it’s very pigment. The color I got in the photo was just with one swipe on my upper lip.
It’s a bold and brazen warm red with a semi-matte finish. It’s non-drying and non-toxic, too!
If you take a look at the shape of the lipstick, it’s square-ish and flattens out around the edges. Application will take some getting used to, but it’s no biggie (just dab the flat side—don’t swipe—it on your lips). As for lasting power, about 3-4 hours without retouching. It’s pretty rich, so you don’t need to apply too much.
So is it worth it? Totally. It’s the richest, most luxurious red I’ve tried so far and I really am a sucker for vintage-inspired makeup. I want to get another shade (Merlot Red) because the darker shade is really TDF. It’s out of stock though, so I hope it becomes available soon!
What do you think of this shade? Yay or nay? ♥

I like how the color really grips onto your lips (you’ll feel a firm, tugging motion when you swipe it on) because this means that it’s less likely to bleed out. I’ve been ditching the lip liner because of the pointy tip. As this dulls over time, a lip brush will do for precision application since the formula is pretty budge-proof.
Such a rich and versatile red. I think this will suit all skintones pretty well.
It seems a bit blue-based, but I see some orange-y tones in there also. I think that’s why the Laura Mercier team has dubbed it as a classic, neutral red. Want to see what it looks like on me? Clickity-click! Continue reading →
A gorgeous smile—no matter how fantastic your lipstick may be—won’t have the same impact if your teeth are yellow-stained. Luckily, I have a few beauty cheats we can use to score a brighter, dazzling smile…and they all have to do with the color blue! Curious? Try these two tricks:
1. Pick a red lipstick that has blue undertones.
The right red can b a subtle way to cheat your way to whiter teeth!
The thing is, it can be difficult for makeup newbies to spot the undertone. To make it easier for you to shop for a blue-based red, I’m gonna suggest you try this matte pick from Nars.
Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. It’s actually Taylor Swift’s go-to red!
What I like about this is that it feels comfortable on your lips and it really does glide on like velvet. It’s long-lasting and the siren red is such a gorgeous color. Just slick on this lipstick (more layers = more impact) and you’ll instantly look super glamorous. It’s a must for date night or fancy occasions when you want to rock an old Hollywood vibe.
2. Try a whitening toothpaste.
Actress Heart Evangelista relies on Closeup Diamond Attraction Toothpaste to score her charming smile.
This toothpaste is a blue-colored gel that gives your teeth an immediate whitening boost. “It utilizes Blue Light Technology through a blue covarine foam that lessens the yellow tones on teeth, making teeth look whiter and brighter, instantly,” explains cosmetic dentist Dr. Cecile Infantado.
