I am obsessed with everything from Perricone MD. Their skincare delivers fantastic results (even though it may not smell so good—read about it here), and now, their “no makeup” makeup line is becoming something I constantly use.
These have earned a spot on my vanity table and in my travel kit!
My ultimate favorite will always be Perricone MD’s No Foundation Serum (find out why here!). If you’re just starting out and want to invest, this one’s a must. But if you’re already hooked and want to explore more from the line, here’s what I have to say about these three products. Continue reading →
You guys! I just learned this super cool trick from Jane Iredale’s global educator, Shawn Towne.
Use a credit card as a stencil when you’re filling in your brows with powder!
Pretty cool, right? It works super well when you’re defining the upper part of your eyebrows. This part is always challenging for me, because sometimes, you just end up making your brows thicker when your initial line isn’t drawn on straight. With the credit card as a guide, you get a precise line from the get-go.
Full and fierce! Super love how he tweaked my brows! P.S. I’m also loving that highlight. I used the Jane Iredale Glow Time Mineral BB Cream (yes, I totally relapsed).
Check out the fantastic brow powder he used (and more reviews + another #FOTD) after the jump! Continue reading →
Do you remember this feature from Preview magazine? I was asked to talk about my favorite makeup move—strobing! But after interviewing Camie about why she loves to contour, I’ve been experimenting with it a bit more. And besides, these new products have been making it super easy for me.
How could I resist these babies? Say hi to the new Maybelline V-Face Contour line by Face Studio! P.S. Make sure you read this post until the end for the giveaway!
Can you guess what they’re trying to get you to achieve with this? It’s the enviable (and trending) “V” shape for the face! You can totally sculpt a thinner nose and face with this if you want to, so I thought I’d give it a try!
Whenever I try new looks, I love looking for celeb pegs. This time around, I took my inspo from Angelina Jolie.
When I was researching, I was surprised to see that she actually liked using pretty pops of pink on her cheeks during red carpet events. There’s always a little sculpting underneath to emphasize her gorgeous cheekbones, but it’s very minimal. Based on the photos I saw on IG, I also noticed that she only darkens the contour shadows during photoshoots + movie promos.
So now that I have my peg, I can start contouring! I applied my liquid foundation first and then I used the MaybellineV-Face Duo Stick, P499.
I placed tiny swipes over the hollows of my cheeks, along my temple, jawline, and the sides of my nose. For the highlighter, I placed it over the highest points on my cheeks and my nose bridge. My first impression? Loved the highlighter, was iffy about the color of the contour cream (keep reading—swatches later!). But surprisingly, when I applied the contour on top of my skin, it was the perfect shade for Pinays! Super subtle!

You guys! Benefit Cosmetics is finally launching their newest brow products on July 1! That’s more reasons to get excited for Fridaaaaay :)
These are the three products that I use the most from their collection.
I’m not going to beat around the bush here. Benefit’s brow game has drastically improved. The formulations are better, there are way more shades to choose from, and the magic wand-inspired packaging? Super gorgeous!
What a difference, guys! Follow me on Snapchat (@beautyandsparkl) for more makeup scoops!
I recently tried Ka-Brow! and if you want an Instagram brow, get that! The cream-gel formula is perfect for creating definition and using a brush allows you to control the gradation of color a lot better. The color was too dark for me though (I got #4), so I really use these three more. Continue reading →
After a much-needed facial, I popped in for lunch + tea at one of my favorite hideaways in my side of town.
I’ve been dying to read Hector And The Search For Happiness for almost a year now, but I didn’t buy the book because I didn’t fancy the movie cover (it was the only version being sold at local bookstores at the time). So when I spotted this cover a few days ago, I swooped it out of the shelf right away and headed straight to the counter.
Spoiler alert: These are all the lessons Hector learned as he journeyed around the world trying to understand what made me people feel happy.
There’s a lot of truth to this list, and if you read the book, you’ll understand them even better through the people that Hector interact with and the experiences that they share. It’s an interesting book and it’s also a very easy read considering the complexity of the topic. And although it saddens me to say that I didn’t completely fall in love with the book or the character, I’d still say that it’s a worthy read. Give it a chance because there are a few gems in there that’ll make you examine and challenge your own views on happiness. Or you can just cheat and watch the movie (I have a feeling it might actually be better than the book and it’s partly because I adore Simon Pegg).
This was one of the questions that Hector asked the people he encountered.
Reading this question over and over again throughout the book really made me stop and want to ask myself this question, too. Was I happy? Like really happy? Find out my answer after the jump! Continue reading →
