Beauty Juice

Okay, I just saw a video on E! (click here for the link) and got inspired to start juicing again!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Miranda Kerr, Dr. Oz, and Oprah are just a few who are fans of this green juice.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Miranda Kerr, Dr. Oz, and Oprah are just a few who are fans of this green juice.

I’d like to say I’m doing it purely for my health (it’s part of it, really), but who am I kidding? I’m really after the glow! I used to drink this first thing in the morning, but I got a bit lazy to chop-chop-chop and keep shopping for ingredients. So today, I’ll make some time for the grocery aisles and shop for fruits and veggies that are easy to find in our part of the world.

Watch out for my own little recipe tomorrow! So excited! ♥

Have you ever tried juicing? Do you want to?

Sad Beauty News

Say it isn’t so…

Que horror!

Que horror!

I saw this while I was researching about anti-aging tricks online and wish I could un-see it! Haha! I have a feeling this has more to do with processed sugar and that dark chocolate might actually be okay—but where’s the fun in that?? Boo! Until I verify this little factoid with my derma contacts, I’m gonna have to think twice before ordering dessert and will just drink more water whenever I crave for something sweet. Sigh.

Do you think this beauty tidbit is true? And would you stop having chocolate if ever? Leave a comment and let me know! ♥

3 Cold Weather Skin Tweaks

cocoa

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for hot cocoa. But for your skin? Maybe not so much if you’re sensitive to colder temps.

The weather is beginning to get chilly, and by the time January hits, I’m assuming it’ll become even colder (yay–Baguio weather in Manila!). Because my skin is starting to feel the effects of the temp changes already, I made these tiny tweaks to my usual skin routine to help banish dry patches and that uncomfy, tight feeling post-wash. If your skin is also beginning to feel itchy, turn red, or become flaky, here are my tried-and-tested tricks to giving your complexion a moisture boost:

Tweak 1: Ditch The Foaming Wash.
These kinds of sudsers are excellent at stripping away excess oil from your skin. But because the weather isn’t making your skin extra greasy anymore, the natural oils that you need might be getting stripped away, too. Switch to a non-foaming facial wash to prevent tightness and redness.

physiogel-wash

My Pick: Physiogel Cleanser, P85. You can use it with or without water and it gets rid of dirt without leaving your skin tight or dry.

Tweak 2: Ditch The Facial Scrubs.
Whoa, whoa. I’m not telling you to stop exfoliating. In fact, you may need to do this at least twice a week to get rid of dry patches and the pore-clogging dirt leftover from all the party makeup you’ve been putting on. What I’m suggesting is that you switch from micro-beaded scrubs to a water-based slougher. It won’t feel as rough or abrasive and it won’t cause micro-tears on sensitive skin.

cure-aqua-gel

My Pick: Cure Natural Aqua Gel, P1,500. It’s made up of 90% hydrogenated water and banishes pore-clogging dead skin cells in a flash. After my first use, I woke up to glowing skin the very next day! Check out my detailed review here.

Tweak 3: Ditch Your Cream Moisturizer.
Instead, use a luxe beauty oil that’s more emollient, easy to absorb, and leaves your skin with a nice, dewy sheen. When applying, there’s no need to go crazy. Just spread three to four drops over the palm of your hands and gently press and massage it over your face and neck.

the-souq-organics-Pure-Argan-Oil

My Pick: The Souq Organics Moroccan Argan Oil, P1,500. When it comes to Argan oils, this is one of the brands that I trust. It’s hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and packaged to ensure that the oil retains its potency longer.

Now Trending: MAC + Bobbi Brown’s A/W 2013 Update

I got a couple of press kits in my e-mail about what looks are hot for fall from MAC and Bobbi Brown. I haven’t had a chance to try their latest collections yet, but let’s take a gander at their look books for some makeup inspiration, shall we?

SKIN

MAC’s Take: Texture over color. This means that it’s all about highlighting your finish—matte, dewy, or glossy—and not covering up your face with a thick layer of foundation. Your skin should still be able to peek through your makeup and catch eyes by playing with natural light.

EYES

Bobbi Brown’s Take: “This fall, chocolate is the new brown,” says makeup guru Bobbi Brown. Rich shades of cocoa can be worn alone during the day or layered on for a sexy, smoky look. Try adding a hint of caramel-colored shimmer when blending to add more sparkle to your eyes and brighten ’em up.

LIPS

MAC’s Take: It’s unanimous—red is the color of the season. The beauty trick, however, is to make it contemporary and intriguing. How? Use the color palette above as a guide and work on flaunting modern shades like bloody crimson, a blurry bordeaux, or a goth-inspired stain. ♥

Which trend will you try? Let me know by posting a comment below!
