My Attempt At Splatter Nails

I got a white mani last week and thought I’d experiment with splatter nails before I removed the old polish. Tutorials of this nail art technique always looked so cool and easy, so I thought I’d give it a try.

Ready for some nail art fun?

Who’s ready for some nail art fun?

Okay, so here’s what you’ll need:

  • a variety of polish colors for your base and splatter hues
  • sheets of old magazines or paper (recycle please!)
  • a straw
  • washi tape (masking tape or scotch tape will work, too!)
  • sharp scissors
  • nail polish remover
  • cottonbuds
Preparing everything you need ahead of time will make help the process a lot easier! Btw, do you like the color combo I chose?

After painting on your base color, make sure it dries completely. Then, wrap each finger with washi tape. This will help make clean-up a lot easier later on.

Grab your straw and place thin blobs of polish around the tip.

After covering your digits, grab a plastic straw and place thin blobs of polish around the tip.

Once done, place it over your nails, take a deep breath through your nose, and blow sharply into the straw!

Why kudos on using that reusable cup. The straw? Not so much.

Why kudos on using that reusable tumbler. The straw? Not so much.

Some of your daily habits can actually speed up the aging process—and you might not even know it! Here’s a quick rundown to help you catch these sneaky, wrinkle-causing culprits.

Culprit #1: The Way You Wash Your Face
The Reason: The constant tugging and pulling of the gentle skin around your face can cause sagging.
The Fix: You know those silly facial wash commercials where you see girls carefully lathering up and rinsing off their faces with a smile? Ya, do that. And please pat (don’t rub!) your face dry while you’re at it.

Culprit #2: Sipping On A Straw
The Reason: Repetitive puckering motions can cause the tiny creases around your mouth to deepen in the long run.
The Fix: Simple—just drink directly from the glass or bottle as much as you can.

Can you guess what the other three culprits are? Instagramming is one of them! Continue reading
