Review: Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation & Concealer

I was thrilled when Urban Decay emailed me and said that they wanted to send me a few items for review. I thought I was dreaming! Urban Decay?? It’s like one of the coolest makeup brands out there and I’m on their beauty radar! Yay!

Getting a kit from a US brand was so different. Locally, they usually send a printed write-up about the product and brand (with a CD or USB filled with photos). UD sent a short note and a little info card that mentioned all the highlights about the Naked Skin line. It was short and sweet and straight to the point—I likey!

Wearable contour? That sounds like a good challenge!

Wearable contour? That sounds like a good challenge!

If you watch my YouTube videos, you know that contouring isn’t part of my makeup routine. But wearable contour? I can get on board with that. I was beginning to notice that my face was looking a tad long and flat lately in photos, so maybe adding more natural shadows might help (more about that on my YouTube channel soon!).

For now, let’s do a thorough review of these makeup goodies!

Let's start with the foundation! Isn't the rose gold box and sleek packaging pretty?

Let’s start with the foundation! Isn’t the rose gold box and sleek packaging pretty? I can’t get myself to throw them out just yet!

Okay so here’s the scoop on the foundation: It’s gives you major coverage without feeling heavy, there’s also a blurring effect that’s supposed to happen, and it has light-reflecting spheres (and peptides!) to help lessen the appearance of fine lines. Sounds good so far, right?

More swatches, my take on the “wearable contour” technique, and see what the foundation looks like on me after the jump! Continue reading

Aren’t the colors so pretty? Each fresh, flower-inspired shade was handpicked to create warm and cool tones for the palette. I think you really have to see the swatches to fully appreciate them though. Take a closer look (and see what the shades look like on me!) after the jump! Continue reading

First Look: NARS Spring 2016 Color Collection

It’s here! And it’s fabulous!

I love all the fresh shades!

I love all the light and fresh shades!

“The colors look very fresh and pretty because of the soft shades like rose, apricot, and mint,” share François Nars. I didn’t get a sample of the mint, but it is a pretty dominant shade in their campaign.

A behind-the-scenes look at Nars' S/S 2016 muse, Mariacarla Boscono.

Do you see thee mint on the lids of NARS muse, Mariacarla Boscono? I actually like it!

There are bolder shades in the collection, like midnight blue and warm red, but I’ve been digging natural-toned shadows lately. Shall we explore them? A closer look + smudges after the jump! Continue reading

Sparkle Review: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick

I’ve got a good one for you guys!

Wore this to a shoot today and everyone kept asking me about my lipstick! Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Amalfi, P1,250. It's part of their Summer 2015 collection.

Wore this lippie to a shoot today and everyone kept asking me about it! It’s Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Amalfi, P1,250.

This is the latest from Stila’s summer collection and they have five other colors (all inspired by the sunsets along the coastlines of Italy). Don’t judge, but I did have to Google Amalfi and maaaan…the place is so breathtaking! The cliffs, the beaches, the food—I hope I get to visit this place soon! Seriously, look it up on Google images. It’s gorge!

Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick, P1,250. The shade: Amalfi, which is part of their Summer 2015 collection.

Okay, enough travel lust! Here’s a look at the actual lipstick. First impressions: Loved the bright color in the gold packaging and I was intrigued by the term “liquid lipstick.

I was surprised that it was matte when I first slicked it on. I wasn’t able to prep my lips with balm beforehand (gasp!), but I figured it would be a good way to gauge how drying it would be.

More of my review and swatches after the jump! Continue reading

Get Lippie Tuesday

Here’s what we’re reviewing today:

Max Factor Flipstick Colour Effect in Bloomy Pink.

Max Factor Flipstick Colour Effect in Bloomy Pink.

I just found this in my stash while I was rushing off to a meeting. I never really tried Max Factor lipsticks before either and hoped that the formula would feel comfy on my lips. But the real reason I was iffy about giving it a try? The frosty finish. It just seemed so…90s. LOL!

It was the frosty finish that I was really worried about here. It seemed so...90s. LOL!

But look—it’s not so bad. The pigment is good for daily use and the rose-like hues might even be flattering on my skintone.

I have to admit—this flipstick (clever name!) has piqued my interest. I do love layering different lip colors, so this will definitely give me plenty of hue options to play around with. Curious to see if it looks good on me? Click to see what it looks like on my pout! Continue reading
