Sparkle Bites: 3 Things I Like About Beauty Biz Bliss

It’s not uncommon for a modern woman to work, cook dinner, be the beautiful and charming date at her SO’s work event, and even be a mom. And I’m just grazing the basic roles here, so yeah, it can be a lot to handle.

That's why I was very excited when I learned that Frances, Martine, and Ginger were launching BeautyBizBliss.com! It's a website that helps bring powerful women together.

“We talked about what we’re good at and what we’re poor at and realized we can help each other out,” says Frances. And when the trio realized that other women needed help too, they created a venue where like-minded gals can get together and form a tribe where they can share stories, swap business contacts, and help build each other up.

During the Beauty Biz Bliss launch-slash-gathering, we were asked to share a bit about ourselves and what we do—and maaaaan—I was in shock. Women are multi-hyphenates now and work hard to chase all their passions. It made me realize that there’s this desire to “do everything”—like have the dream job, create online success, and have the family to come home to.

If that's your goal, then you could definitely use these three wonder women in your life.

Work Life: Nail Art Shoot With Cosmo.ph

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Once a Cosmo girl, always a Cosmo girl. Even though I’m not on staff anymore, this brand will always be near and dear to my heart. Hey, I learned all the writing, editing, and beauty basics from some of the best editors in the country here!

So when Sandra, the assistant fashion and beauty editor of Cosmo.ph, asked if I wanted to help them come up with the nail designs + how-to for their Holi-Nails story, I was all in. It was the perfect beauty story for me because I had just wrapped my Sparkle Session: A Nail Art Workshop—it was time to put my skills to the test!

Shoot day! Being super O.C. as I paint on the nail art and teach their hand model, Linn, how to do it herself.

Work Life: TRESemmé Advertorial Shoot

Last September, my former editor, Zo, commissioned me to write press releases and advertorials for the haircare brand TRESemmé. It’s always exciting to write for a brand, because the energy is so different from editorial shoots. It’s a bit more serious and there’s more pressure, because well, they really mean business. I mean, just look at this set:

We shot at DPI XL Studio in Makati. Photo Marc Nicdao is crouching at the bottom, setting up a playlist to amp up the vibe.

A few minutes later, model Kelly Misa stepped in—and things got pretty busy from there.

I wish I brought a real camera, but didn’t really think to since I was there to work. Fortunately though, I was able to take a few behind-the-scenes shots of some of the TRESemmé Tres Setters with my iPhone. Read on for quick sound bites from my interviews—they shared some pretty interesting tips and insights about hair.

Kelly's one of the nicest gals in the biz. One of my first editorial gigs was to write a cover story about her for Seventeen magazine.

The Tres Setter: Kelly Misa, model, beauty editor, and columnist
Her Hair Quip: “You can’t really be stylish with messy hair. Hair makes you beautiful and when it’s fixed in a way that you like, you feel more confident. It’s really the final accessory that you need for your outfit.”

Ooh, he's cute! And during the interview, I found out that he's such a smart cookie, too.

The Tres Setter: Raymond Gutierrez, style editor and TV host
His Hair Quip: “I think [braids] are what all the cool girl are doing right now. You see it on the street style blogs and models who are off-duty. It’s probably the easiest hairstyle for girls on the go.”
