Work Life: TRESemmé Advertorial Shoot

Last September, my former editor, Zo, commissioned me to write press releases and advertorials for the haircare brand TRESemmé. It’s always exciting to write for a brand, because the energy is so different from editorial shoots. It’s a bit more serious and there’s more pressure, because well, they really mean business. I mean, just look at this set:

We shot at DPI XL Studio in Makati. Photo Marc Nicdao is crouching at the bottom, setting up a playlist to amp up the vibe.

A few minutes later, model Kelly Misa stepped in—and things got pretty busy from there.

I wish I brought a real camera, but didn’t really think to since I was there to work. Fortunately though, I was able to take a few behind-the-scenes shots of some of the TRESemmé Tres Setters with my iPhone. Read on for quick sound bites from my interviews—they shared some pretty interesting tips and insights about hair.

Kelly's one of the nicest gals in the biz. One of my first editorial gigs was to write a cover story about her for Seventeen magazine.

The Tres Setter: Kelly Misa, model, beauty editor, and columnist
Her Hair Quip: “You can’t really be stylish with messy hair. Hair makes you beautiful and when it’s fixed in a way that you like, you feel more confident. It’s really the final accessory that you need for your outfit.”

Ooh, he's cute! And during the interview, I found out that he's such a smart cookie, too.

The Tres Setter: Raymond Gutierrez, style editor and TV host
His Hair Quip: “I think [braids] are what all the cool girl are doing right now. You see it on the street style blogs and models who are off-duty. It’s probably the easiest hairstyle for girls on the go.”

I got acquainted with Liz back during our Summit days. She’s truly an über fashionista!

The Tres Setter: Liz Uy, celebrity stylist
Her Hair Quip: “I’m obsessing about short hair right now. Women should experiment with their hair and cut it at least once in their life. Don’t be afraid because it grows back anyway.”

Love Jing's passion for hair! He just got back from studying how to create modern bobs from London.

The Tres Setter: Jing Monis, celebrity hairstylist
His Hair Quip: “Asians have strong hair and it’s difficult to control. That’s why I like the TRESemmé Styling Mousse and Hairspray. It holds properly and you don’t have to worry about your hair going limp because of the weather temperature or humidity.”

Love her! So much personality!

This woman’s just oozing with appeal!

The Tres Setter: Joey Mead-King, model and mentor for Asia’s Next Top Model
Her Hair Quip: “The Filipina is very modern. She’s becoming more playful, but she should also become more experimental [when it comes to her hair]. I don’t let the hairstyle define me. I define the hairstyle.”

Maaan…Joey Mead is cool. During the interview, I found out that Jing Monis (who’s also the man behind the hair of local celebs like Juday and Anne Curtis) was also the one who chopped off her locks and gave Joey the chic bob that she’s sporting now. Apparently, it’s the “It” style for the 2013 woman. “Experimenting with the different angles and shapes of the bob is a world trend now,” says Monis. “Just look at the Hollywood stars and models—they’re all sporting this style.”

What about you? Are you brave enough to chop off your locks? Leave me a comment below and tell me all about your hair thoughts! ♥

I want to cut off my hair too! But i just don’t have the guts to pull it off. I have a tendency to “hide” behind my hair…

Btw, congrats on the blog! Was able to listen to your talk last month in the BDJ beauty social. :)

    • Thank you!! Wow, glad you were able to listen to the talk! As for your hair, take Joey Mead’s advice ;p Hehehe…I did! Will post about it soon.
